A full Jikiden Reiki treatment generally takes an hour and a half. While the experience of Jikiden Reiki treatment is individual, it is often accompanied by a deep feeling of well-being, comfort and revitalization. The body uses the extra energy of Jikiden Reiki to help repair itself quicker than it would normally. Many people experience benefits such as pain relief during the treatment. Other sensations experienced and reported are: warmth, heat, coolness, comfort, relaxation, and tingling. A Jikiden Reiki treatment is a very personal experience and there is no one particular feeling you should experience. Reiki supports and amplifies both conventional medical and non-medical treatments, as well as homoeopathic and naturopathic therapies. For some people; one to three treatments are enough to help them recover from their ailments. For chronic or very serious conditions, a longer course of treatments is recommended. While definite benefits can be gained from just a single treatment, to get the best results one should attend regular sessions. Jikiden treatments are recommended for more serious conditions. Apart from chronic illnesses, Jikiden has many benefits as a treatment and does treat a variety of conditions.

Psychological or emotional treatments are a very effective way to help you through difficult times. Treatments can be used as an accompanying therapy for fear, stress, anxiety, worry, depression, addictions, severe emotional traumas and for the treatment of bad habits. The number of treatments required will be different for each individual. Long-term issues generally take longer to resolve although positive effects can be felt from the onset. Jikiden emotional and psychological treatments last for 30 to 45 minutes.

Jikiden is practised as a hands-on treatment and works directly with the body, focusing energy on the problem areas through direct contact. This therapy is immensely relaxing and effective. It is a gentle, balancing treatment for physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

A brief history

Jikiden Reiki is Reiki which comes directly from Mr. Chugiro Hayasi (1879 ~ 1940), a disciple of Mr. Mikao Usui (1865 ~ 1926) to Ms. Chiyoko Yamaguchi (1921-2003).  Jikiden Reiki has no influence from Western Reiki, and is the only Reiki that has purely descended from Japan. The untainted nature of Jikiden makes it the most traditional practice of Reiki.

Ms. Chiyoko Yamaguchi was initiated into Reiki in 1938 at age of 17 by Mr. Chujiro Hayashi. She had practised Reiki throughout her life for over 65 years. Her presence and her knowledge were precious, and many people in the Reiki community requested her to teach what she had learned from Mr. Chujiro Hayashi.

She founded Jikiden Reiki Kenkyukai (Institute) with her son Mr. Tadao Yamaguchi in 1999. The teaching and treatment have been continued by Mr. Tadao Yamaguchi and Jikiden Reiki continues to spread in Japan and abroad today.
